Elderberry extract, used for many things but scientifically proven to reduce the length of time you experience the symptoms of influenza.
If you are quick you can still find elderberries and make this tincture which will last for up to three years if kept in correct conditions. There are several ways to make up tinctures, varying in ratio of water/alcohol mix and herb produce content. This particular tincture is one of the easiest to make.
Method: Collect ripe elderberries and rinse them in water. Put them in a kilner jar and cover with a water/alcohol mix of 10 per cent water to 90 per cent alcohol ( vodka is the best alcohol to use, being almost odorless ). Keep in a dark place for fifteen days shaking the jar frequently. The resultant mix should then be sieved and put into smaller bottles.
Use: This tincture will not prevent you from contracting flu, nor will it cure you, but like Tamiflu, it will reduce the recovery time. Keep refrigerated and when experiencing flu like symptoms take one tsp in the morning and repeat at night. If unopened the strength will not diminish if kept in a cool dark place for up to three years.
